Prishtina Sustainable Design Week

PSDW exists to activate design as a tool for environmental responsibility, social transformation, and systemic change.

It brings together designers, artists, architects, researchers, institutions, and citizens to rethink how we create, produce, and live, positioning regeneration as a fundamental principle embedded in every decision.

Core specific objectives of PSDW are:

1. Enabling a shift in mindsets from passive consumption to conscious creation

2. Facilitate a network of bridging disciplinesconnecting creative industries with environmental and social challenges

3. Enable translation of ideas into action while moving beyond discussion toward tangible solutions and prototypes

4. Empower local ecosystems by strengthening Prishtina’s role as a hub for sustainable innovation in the region

5. Encourage shared responsibility by enhancing the understanding of design as a tool to collectively address environmental and social challenges

At the same time, PSDW acknowledges its context. Kosovo operates within a developing creative ecosystem that has historically had limited access to global networks, resources, and production infrastructure.

Rather than seeing this as a limitation, PSDW points it as a critical opportunity: to build capacities from within. By exposing young people to international perspectives, hands-on learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the festival invests directly in the next generation of designers, makers, and thinkers.

In this sense, PSDW is a platform for exchange, but most importantly, it is a mechanism for developing local talent, strengthening creative industries, and increasing Kosovo’s participation in global design conversations.
